NBA 2017 MVP race – part 4

(Originally posted on Sunday, 11 December 2016)

All the data I used I found on this site:

On 10 December 2016 the Golden State Warriors recorded their fourth loss of the season and now there are no teams with less the 4 losses.

With the assumptions described in this post: ,
according to the data from the games up to 10 December 2016 the current NBA 2017 MVP race list is this:
1. Kevin Durant: 2520.20      (projected team wins: 68)
2. James Harden: 2472.26      (projected team wins: 58)
3. Russell Westbrook: 2346.21      (projected team wins: 50)
4. LeBron James: 2212.30      (projected team wins: 63)
5. Stephen Curry: 2126.16      (projected team wins: 68)
6. Kawhi Leonard: 2067.60      (projected team wins: 65)
7. Chris Paul: 1899.10     (projected team wins: 58)
8. DeMar DeRozan: 1891.95      (projected team wins: 57)
9. Kevin Love: 1870.72      (projected team wins: 63)
10. Draymond Green: 1824.13      (projected team wins: 68)

Kevin Durant is still on top, but his projected MVP value is clearly lower now. James Harden climbed to the second spot, thanks to the recent record of the Houston Rockets – 8 wins in the last 10 games. Russell Westbrook improved his projected MVP value, but it was not enough and he dropped to the third spot. LeBron James improved his projected MVP value significantly, but for him it is still a long way to the top.
