NBA 2017 MVP race – part 7

(Originally posted on Wednesday, 25 January 2017)

All the data I used I found on this site:

On 23 January 2017 the Golden State Warriors recorded their 7th loss of the season and now there are no teams with less the 7 losses.

With the assumptions described in this post: ,
according to the data from the games up to 23 January 2017 the current NBA 2017 MVP race list is this:
1. Kevin Durant: 2535.87      (projected team wins: 69)
2. James Harden: 2528.08      (projected team wins: 58)
3. Russell Westbrook: 2169.32      (projected team wins: 47)
4. Stephen Curry: 2119.82      (projected team wins: 69)
5. Kawhi Leonard: 1969.56      (projected team wins: 65)
6. LeBron James: 1933.84      (projected team wins: 57)
7. DeMar DeRozan: 1720.10      (projected team wins: 52)
8. Kyle Lowry: 1587.69      (projected team wins: 52)
9. Isaiah Thomas: 1520.37      (projected team wins: 50)
10. John Wall: 1505.97      (projected team wins: 45)

James Harden fell from the top of the list because his projected team record worsened a bit. Kevin Durant leads, but only very slightly. Russel Westbrook is still averaging triple-double, but his team's record is too weak. It seems to me that Harden is the main candidate for the MVP award. By the way: Isaiah Thomas and John Wall showed themselves for the first time in the top 10.
