NBA 2017 MVP race – part 8

(Originally posted on Sunday, 5 February 2017)

All the data I used I found on this site:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/

On 4 February 2017 the Golden State Warriors recorded their 8th loss of the season and now there are no teams with less the 8 losses.

With the assumptions described in this post:
http://glen-cook-fan-site.blogspot.com/2016/11/nba-2017-mvp-race-part-1.html ,
according to the data from the games up to 4 February 2017 the current NBA 2017 MVP race list is this:

1. Kevin Durant: 2517.22      (projected team wins: 69)
2. James Harden: 2457.91      (projected team wins: 56)
3. Russell Westbrook: 2164.01      (projected team wins: 47)
4. Stephen Curry: 2140.72      (projected team wins: 69)
5. LeBron James: 1980.79      (projected team wins: 57)
6. Kawhi Leonard: 1916.95      (projected team wins: 64)
7. John Wall: 1662.27      (projected team wins: 49)
8. Isaiah Thomas: 1653.32      (projected team wins: 52)
9. Kyle Lowry: 1496.04      (projected team wins: 48)
10. Klay Thompson: 1485.98      (projected team wins: 69)

Kevin Durant's lead increased, but his projected MVP value dropped down a little. James Harden's MVP value dropped down even more than Durant's because his team's projected record worsened by two wins. By the way: Klay Thompson showed himself for the first time in the top 10.
