Yesterday, after our children went to bed, my wife wanted to see a movie together with me and I suggested Die Hard – a fantastic action movie. I had bought the DVD several years ago and it was still wrapped in transparent foil, so it was a high time to unwrap it. We had both seen the movie before – it was a huge hit when we were young and we both loved it. However neither of us remembered a scene about husband-wife relationship that takes place in the beginning of the film.
What is really relevant to most marriages is the end of the scene – after the wife goes out of the apartment the husband bounces his head against the frame of the bathroom door and sarcastically tells himself: “That's great John. Good job. Very mature.” At that moment I realised that I myself sometimes feel this way and I told my wife about it. She looked at me, kind of approvingly, and we laughed a little. When the movie ended I played the scene again and my wife told me that she would have to record it and run it to me from time to time.
When I got up today I hugged my wife and told her that today my behaviour would be very mature. And she started laughing.
